There’s no law that says you can’t camp at the beach. People beach camp on Maui all the time locals, families, friends, and visitors keeping it mellow, respectful, and having the time of their lives.

Personal note from Paradise Jay: Aloha new guests! Camper rentals can’t do airport pickups - it’s illegal without an expensive special permit sticker. If someone says they will Big red flag! 🚩 What else might they hide from you? Fines are $500 for guests, $5,000 for drivers. Grab a rideshare It's only 12 miles. Way cheaper than a surprise ticket. If going to spend $500 go on a helicopter tour. 😉👍

Think about this when choosing who to go with... Imagine if the day after you check-in you are broken on the side of the road. Then what? This is your room and ride. You likely have a big vacation problem.

Vans might seem like an option but they’re far from practical on Maui. Gas mileage is poor, averaging 8-10 MPG spend a lot more on fuel than expected. The ride is uncomfortable with a bumpy rough suspension built for work trucks. Plus without opening side windows for airflow the inside can get unbearably hot. Also miss out on the island’s stunning views.
RVs - NOT ON MAUI
Full size big RVs on Maui are another topic hard to find info on. There are exactly zero on Maui. Not allowed. Like the ones to take a cross country road trip with the family many with room slide outs. Our roads are narrow and windy in many areas. If Maui had big RVs there would be one stuck on every road all day long. Forget trying to turn one around.

I’ve been offering campers on Maui longer than anyone else at this point! Back in the early days, before the internet made travel research a breeze, I was just Paradise Jay spreading the word through good old-fashioned word of mouth and Craigslist. That’s how people found out about my campers.
