We get this question a lot. The biggest reason is we build everything around the actual Maui camping experience instead of choosing vehicles just because they’re flashy looking.
We use SUVs because they make awesome campers here. They’re what people who live on Maui use for camping too. We choose them for how great they are once set up, how comfortable they are to sleep in, how much gear they can carry, and how perfect they are for exploring the island.
Over the years, we’ve learned exactly what works and what doesn’t when turning an SUV into a great Maui camper. That’s why we choose the SUV models and designs that work best once they’re set up as an Easy Camper. Some proven SUV designs simply have the interior room, shape and dimensions that make a better sleeping setup, with plenty of space for all the gear that goes along with it. We keep them looking good and well cared for too.
When manufacturers come out with the latest version of an SUV, a fancy new touchscreen, high-tech navigation or new interior styling doesn’t necessarily make it a better camper. What matters to us is what actually makes your Maui experience better. Your phone handles maps like it always has and connects to the stereo with Bluetooth for your personal music. Putting the value into a great camping setup instead of constantly chasing the latest bells and whistles is one more way we’re able to give you such an affordable Maui experience.
We keep the way we run the business simple and do maintenance and repairs in house, so we don’t have to build a bunch of extra overhead into the daily price. That helps us keep the rate at $99 a day.
Another big difference is how we price everything. A lot of camper rental companies start with a base rate that may look good and then add charges for the things you actually need for real Maui camping. Chairs, cooking gear, snorkel gear and other equipment can all become separate daily charges. With Easy Campers Maui, all of that is already included in the $99.
Insurance works the same way. It isn’t free on our end. We pay for your rental insurance out of that same $99 a day so you don’t have another charge added on when you book. We could separate it out and charge it on top, but that’s not what Easy Campers Maui is about. $99 a day means everything included. Easy! ☺️
And a big part of keeping it affordable comes down to why we do this in the first place. Love of Maui, sharing the aloha, totally epic camping here, and wanting other people to be able to experience the island this way without spending a fortune doing it. The business still has to cover its costs, pay the bills and make some money, but the goal has never been to charge as much as possible.
The Big Picture
This is how we keep Easy Campers Maui at $99 a day. We choose the right vehicles for Maui camping, keep our costs under control, do a lot ourselves, pay the insurance out of the $99, and include the gear instead of adding extra charges. We put the value into the Maui camping experience and the things that make an amazing vacation.
